I plan to avoid any & all 9/11 anniversary news specials
It was the impetus of a very dark chapter in our history and of dubious circumstances in my opinion.

1. I don't blame you
I have to work that day anyway, and will be about 4000 miles from New York.
I won't see American TV again for another 4 months now. Less commercials
and objective news reporting. Could be worse.

so we'll miss most of the crap. I have no need to relive the experience.

of it. There are a couple of movies I wanted to catch up on, so that may be my movie day.

on that and the following days. :patriot:

12. I plan a day of quiet reflection. I'll call my brother, who lost several friends and colleagues...
...on that terrible day.

The pathological fanaticism and sick culture that dreamed up and performed the attacks are still with us. Until they are eliminated, they endanger us all.

14. It makes me angry.
I see 911 as a myth created to support the PNAC vision for American supremacy. Having the media repeat their lies only makes it harder to find the truth.

According to Wesly Clark, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, and others were furious that George HW Bush did not take out Saddam Hussein in 1991. They saw HW's reliance on the UN as a weakness and went to work to formulate a new, independent policy. In 1997 PNAC was formed to promote their vision of American supremacy. Wesley Clark calls it a policy coup.

Shortly after GW's selection, Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham told a National Energy Summit, “America faces a major energy supply crisis over the next two decades," ... "The failure to meet this challenge will threaten our nation’s economic prosperity, compromise our national security, and literally alter the way we lead our lives.”

Cheney put it bluntly, "The American way of life is not negotiable."

Ostensibly, Cheney's Energy Task Force was formed to develop a dependable, affordable, and environmentally sound national energy policy. In reality, the ETF was about targeting the world’s last remaining undeveloped petroleum reserves. Energy and economic growth go hand-in-hand and non-Opec oil production was about to peak.

With the fall of the USSR, the US empire was unrivaled for the first time since WWII; but a new power was rising in the East. We had to gain control of ME oil before it was too late. All they needed was a new Pearl Harbor.

21. I don't need 24/7 coverage of that awful day.
I can remember it in my mind's eye as clearly as if it happened yesterday.
Thankfully, my college football team isn't playing this weekend, so I'll turn off the TV and write all weekend. And hopefully celebrate the arrival of a new nephew to boot.

Day of Destruction - Decade of War

It's no jingo, I guarantee!

Although it's predicated on the 9/11 event, it's much more to do with how the country went batshit CRAZY as a result of it.

A MUST SEE if there ever was one!

34. I'd like to recommend "Heroes of the 88th Floor"
which was on one of the cable channels last night. It's about some of the people who are usually omitted in 9/11 coverage, some WTC workers who decided to stay behind and try to rescue people trapped behind jammed doors and other debris: they rescued more people than the oft-praised FDNY and NYPD (not to fault them) and died in the collapse.

28. Thankfully I have Netflix!

It's going to be a sickening display on many channels. Last night, on one of the cable stations, they were touting that their 9/11 special would be shown on all of their channels.

29. now, there's nothing really wrong with COMMEMORATION
but it's going to be chest-beating, shameless wallowing in tragedy, GOP calls to nuke Mecca and Tehran (or Tananarive, if that's where TPTB aim us next), and Dem calls that "President God GOT 'im!" (maybe "Qaddafi did 9-11!" even)
in other words, there'll be so much spooge in the streets they'll have to use street cleaners once it dries

30. Why not remember?
I plan on reminding myself where I was that day, where my loved ones were that day, and how many things changed after that day. If it takes media specials to remind me and others. So be it. The event and the aftermath are something those not living in 2001 will question, eventually. They should know.

31. How the hell does anyone forget that???
There is nothing wrong with remembering. The media saturation amounts to wallowing in my book. Personally, I never want to re-live that day again, and I wish the media wouldn't force it on me. I'll be keeping the TV off that day.
