My Governor apparently thinks she's Marie Antoinette:
Edited on Tue Sep-06-11 03:36 AM by Are_grits_groceries
Haley's fiscal priorities under fire as summer 'jobs' trip detailed

Gov. Nikki Haley's weeklong trip to Europe in June in search of "jobs, jobs, jobs" cost South Carolinians more than $127,000. But the governor and her entourage of more than two dozen returned without any finished deals to bring new employers to the Palmetto State.

Haley, who captured the governor's office preaching fiscal restraint, spent the cash so she, her husband and the rest of the state's contingent could stay in five-star hotels; sip cocktails at the Paris Ritz; dine on what an invitation touted as "delicious French cuisine" at a swanky rooftop restaurant; and rub elbows with the U.S. Ambassador to France at his official residence near the French presidential palace.

The South Carolina group also threw a soiree at the Hotel de Talleyrand, a historic Parisian townhouse where they feted foreign employers in hopes they'd set up shop in South Carolina. The Department of Commerce billed the $25,000 event as a "networking opportunity for members of the South Carolina delegation."

"It was a great party," Commerce Secretary Bobby Hitt said in an interview last week.

The 127K is only part of the cost, and the FOIA obtained documents are heavily redacted. In addition, she is running around saying she closed 2 deals while somebody is apparently shuffling behind her mumbling they are not closed yet to give her some cover later.

We have 11% unemployment.

"It was a great party"

I worked my butt off trying to get people to vote for Vincent Sheheen. He's an amazing person and would be a wonderful gov.

9. Well she pissed off most of the state when
she replaced Darla Moore on the USC board with a hack. Moore will get her back at some point. It will be silent and lethal. She is a steel magnolia with the money and friends to do it. (by lethal I don't mean physical force. just making sure)

11. Absolutely
I have 3 kids at USC and all of them participated in the protests against Haley over Darla Moore.

I'm going to start (yet another) anti-Haley campaign among my friends over this junket to France.

The big task, I think, here in the upstate is to get people to vote on economic issues instead of social/"values" issues. I can sway people to open their eyes when it comes to the fiscal Democratic record vs. the Republican one. But they'll still get in the booth and vote for the (R) because of anti-gay, anti-choice, pro-God as the #1 priority.

12. I was talking to my 85 year old aunt who lives in Camden,
and she asked me if I voted for Haley. I told her I'd rather vote for Karl Marx. She said she didn't like or trust Haley. She even worked at Vince's headquarters. I never know what my relatives will say anymore.

My aunt said 2 things about the election. She said Sheheen should have been more forceful and spent more time upstate. If my aunt doesn't like her, that is a big red flag. Then she said that she didn't think Congress had given Obama a chance. My relatives are like a box of chocolates.

This is what I wrote about Haley's election:

Haley is a grifter who wants to make money. She puts the Travelers to shame.

14. I think some people who didn't know better before the election
got a whiff of the stench that would be Haley's administration when she gave huge raises to Gov staff as a first priority.

http://www.fitsnews.com/2011/01/13/haley-approves-huge-salary-increases/

She's a huge hypocrite and has zero leadership when it comes to education issues. I know some very politically conservative teachers, but can't name one of them that likes Haley.

15. She set the entire legislature off again when
she demanded they come back into session to work on her pet bill. If they vote it through now, it will be a miracle. They didn't trust her anyway, and Jake Knotts might take a hit out on her he hates her so much.

10. If I were a European employer, I wouldn't want to relocate to any part of the US.
The health care system tosses a hideously bloated cost onto businesses inside the US, and US infrastructure is failing. In a European health care system, profit-taking is strictly regulated or is non-existent. In the US, health insurance companies charge exorbitant rates because there is no enforcement of anti-trust laws against monopolies and cartels. America's power grid, transportation infrastructure, under-performing schools, and hospitals are in need of serious reinvestment and repair.

16. Like so many of these TP's she's little more than a grifter.
Edited on Tue Sep-06-11 08:41 AM by blindpig
She is a shameless hustler for the ruling class but likes the thrill of rousing the mindless, uptight little booj who cheer wildly for policies that will undo them as well as those they consider 'unworthy'. They are dumb and hateful small businessmen. They will cheer wildly for policies that will destroy them too, like the priests of Cthulhu.

She's living it up and doing as much damage as possible on the writ of these peckerheads.

{ My analysis of TP's is based upon those in attendance at Bachman's Elvis faux pax Beacon outing.)
