Poll question: Was Bush II a liberal? |
|
Edited on Sat Sep-10-11 09:22 AM by jimlup
Reflecting on Obama's job's talk I realized something. And let me preface this remark by saying that I strongly support Obama's jobs proposal and that we should "pass it right away!"
But - honestly to me it seems that had the Bush II administration been in the same circumstances it could have been their proposal. By asking if Bush II was a liberal - I mean specifically compared to the mainstream today - not as compared to true beacons of sanity like Sanders of Vermont.
Was Bush II a "liberal"? And could his administration have proposed a Jobs program similar to Obama's?

Jobs aren't the government's responsibility unless a Dem is in office.

I'm saying seriously the republicans would have attempted to do something. Maybe for cynical reasons and I'm not for giving them credit - I'm just saying they would have been forced to as Obama has been forced to.
Perhaps he held it off this long for cynical reasons. I'm skeptical of all politicians motives not just the Repukes maybe I'm jaded but I am wondering why Obama waited as long as he did?

6. Do you not remember the 2003 "Jobs Summit"? |
|
People round here sure have some wild fantasies about what Republicans used to be like.

But hell no Bush II was not a liberal. No way no how. Your poll questions do not match your subject line.

7. I confess - I made the title an attention grabber - sorry if you felt fooled... |
|
But seriously - let me ask the question here because it is worth reflecting on and I'm not sure I'm wrong in asking it: Was Bush II a liberal? Think about it compared to how far we've swung.
My opinion - he'd be considered a moderate "sensible" repuklian.

8. That would be counter to the plan so NO bush the lessor would not have offered up a plan like this |
|
Too many people in our country they think and too much of the cream is going to those masses so they, (they being the rich,) want to get rid of as many of us as quickly as possible, anyway possible, otherwise why are they trying to lower our wages, cut us out of healthcare, take our homes, land too, no social security and a host of other cuts detrimental to our well being, 'our' being us, the you's and I's of this country

"liberal" or "conservative" require someone to be capable of thinking and feeling so I can't say GWB would be either one.

12. I think he was socially liberal. |
|
But mainly he was a member of the neo-con mafia family.
I don't think the man had prejudice issues, like the Tea Baggers do. After all, he did have a gay lover and an african-american wif... ummm... Secretary of State. I think he was mighty pissed when the whackos forced him to back to D.C. to deal with the Terry Schiavo thing. Lots of similar examples.
Mostly he was concerned with and was hired to make his family and friends money. And he did a very good job of it. One of the most successful presidents ever...

But who was his lover? Dick???
I also believe he never gave a damn about social issues. That was purely political pandering, and bought him a lot of foot soldiers.
He was a tool of the MIC, petrochemical and other industries, as was every Repub president since RR, and it looks like Obama is unable to break out of that mold.

13. Not fiscally, not socially. No way. |
|
During W's term, libertarians loved to call him a democrat. No way.
No liberal would waste billions of dollars to kill people in illegal wars, nor would they condone waterboarding and other forms of torture.
It's amazing to me that the center has moved so far right, that anything left of fascism is now seen as liberal.
