Poll question: Who would be in the GOP presidential hopefuls field if they were serious? |
|
I mean, if the GOP really wanted to find a candidate who could beat Obama, who would they be pushing?

...but they're not serious.
The corporations are perfectly happy with Obama in the White House. There's no need for a contender on the Republican side. Why bother.
Jeb Bush will rise from the ashes that is his sick family, in 2016, no doubt about it.
The thought of it makes me shudder.

2. Well, we called Dubya "the shrub", what do we call Jeb, "the twig"? |

3. I think Romney has the best chance of beating Obama, but he's still a longshot |
|
Well below 50 percent chance right now, I think. But with a Tea Party running mate he could staunch the bleeding on his own side caused by his record and his Mormonism. He would need help though - a clear policy mistake or two from the president and a worse economy. Even those things happening would only put it in toss-up territory.
Anyone else will probably pick Romney as their running mate, but a Tea Partier at the top of the ticket is just not going to get them there.

4. They'll have to give him one of those jacket bulge walkie-talkies to tell Mittens what to say. |
|
He's no match for Obama one-on-one. Hell, he can't even handle nitwits like Bachmann and Palin!

7. If they were serious they would run... |

Snowe or Collins. There are only a handful of Republicans that are not insane. I can't think of any others off the top of my head.

That would be like the Dems running Ben Nelson. Guaranteed loss in the general. Actually running someone like them would likely produce serious pushback from the right, possibly even a third party candidate. It would be a complete disaster for them over there.

a rebranding of the rw evangelical, bush loving repukes that have been there all along.
The tea baggers will never allow a candidate that would appeal to the moderate repukes
or independents. That's why they keep Trump in the wings as a threat in case the party
gets any funny ideas about nominating a moderate candidate. They're fucked.
edited for lousy spelling.
