When you search with Startpage, we remove all identifying information from your query and submit it anonymously to Google ourselves. We get the results and return them to you in total privacy.

Maybe that's related to what Google has now become:
- Tracks you for 57 different data points! Not only IP and what you click on and search history but where do your cursor hover?
- Fills in your goddamn search terms while you're typing, and just try turning that crap off. (I have, sort of, for initial searches, but soon as I do a follow-up, that thing is back on again.) I don't mean suggested terms, I mean google actually searches while you're still typing, before you've entered. Extremely distracting and annoying, and slows the machine down appreciably (whatever bullshit they claim otherwise).
- Displays page thumbnails on hover (mildly annoying). They're trying to swallow the whole web. Why ever leave google?!
