Got stuck behind Obama's motorcade in Dallas today |
|
but the police presence was SPECTACULAR!
They were everywhere--I have never seen so many in my life. They lined up over ALL of the overpasses and exit ramps.
We were behind so I didn't see anything, but was glad to see the protection.

3. Good. I don't care what it costs. We need to double up for his protection, |
|
a sad but necessary state of affairs.

15. Remember when Bush used to race through DC with that long motorcade of SUVs |
|
with sirens blazing? You could hear them for miles. It was horrible.
The few times I've been to DC since Obama has been in office, I haven't noticed those sirens and motorcade. Do they move him across town without sirens?

8. I saw him blast off from Love field |
|
I heard there was some type of accident that held up the motorcade for a few minutes.

at about 2:15.
There were two buses detained around Junius and small traffic bottleneck around Big Town, but other than that went smoother than I would have expected.

It was 2:15 on I-30E. I wasn't anywhere near Dallas later than that. He was on his way to Eastfield College.

13. I mean the traffic jam that held him up must have been later than 2:15 |
|
I was waiting to take off from Love and was originally told Obama would be leaving around 4pm. He was delayed 15 or 20 minutes due to an accident, so I was told.

14. When Dubya came here, they blocked streets and towed cars |
|
No warning to the residents who live in apartments with no off street parking. Dubya went to breakfast at a restaurant a gazillion miles from his hotel at 8:00 am, so his caravan drove through the heaviest rush hour traffic at the worst time. Tens of thousands of commuters were forced off major highways and late to work. And the cars that were towed were parked along a street the caravan used to get to the highway. No warning was issued to the owners who had to pay $250 to get their cars from the impound lot. It was a nightmare.
When Obama was here, they merely provided a police escort. No cars towed, no streets closed. Amazingly different.

16. Towed is bad enough, but fined? For being legally parked? |
|
Can't believe they wouldn't waive those fines!

18. It was legal to park there |
|
The Secret Service came in at night and decided to declare the streets illegal parking zones. And they towed the cars.
Homeland Security run amok.
