You... we.... especially those of you on the frontlines, but also all of us in this struggle-- WE give me hope again!!! Real hope. For the first time in a very long time. WE, in fact, WERE the ones we've been waiting for all this long time. Be careful out there, everyone. And from the bottom of my heart.... thanks.
That is all. :patriot:

Between these folks and Wisconsin this country is once again getting a look at what real democracy looks like. You'd hope it sticks.

7. Careful With That "Hope"... |
|
...we've seen where that word has led to disapointment and frustration before. Enjoy the halcyion...it's great to see people out on the streets but from one who did that 40-some years ago I also saw where the enthusiasm...the hope...gave way to cynicism, apathy and ultimate loss of hope.
I really want to see this movement take fruit but in a more focused and targeted direction...go after the politicians who are the ones who are standing in the way of passing job bills, re-regulation of Wall Street (or the enforcement of existing laws) and other important issues. Put the fear of losing elections, facing negative publicity and actually having to be held accountable. For those who are fighting the good fight, they we need to cover their backs like never before and bolster their numbers to force the beltway not to do what the money says but what the voters do.
If you want to take back whatever democracy we have it means a long term committment and a show of strength in Washington. OWS is a good step...but I've seen a lot of good steps in my life. I'm wanting to see some solid action...propose legislation and stand behind it.
