Java Junkies Rejoice !!!!

Coffee can reduce type 2 diabetes risk, according to a report, but you'll have to drink a lot of it to do so.

In the UCLA study, researchers discovered that women who drank four cups of caffeinated coffee each day were 56 percent less likely to develop Type 2. The reason, they believe, is that the coffee increased levels of SHBG, also known as sex hormone-binding globulin. SHBG reduces the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.

However, researchers aren't sure what it is in coffee that had this effect. They are pretty confident that it is not caffeine that raises the amount of SHBG.

James D. Lane, an associate research professor at Duke University Medical Center, who was not involved in the study, told MyHealthNewsDaily that these new findings are "impressive." He added, however, that more research would be necessary to confirm the link between coffee and Type 2 diabetes.

The American Diabetes Association states that Type 2 Diabetes is the most common form of the disease. it accounts for more than 90 percent of diabetes cases.

3. "pretty confident that it is not caffeine" - that's a pretty easy variable to test
Is the effect still there with women who drink four cups of decaffeinated coffee?

10. Based on the markings on the pot I drink about 14 cups a day.
That should do it. :woohoo:

It's only about 6 actual cups though. Costco coffee keeps me from going broke.

14. Would if you put a lot of sugar in each cup?
Edited on Sat Jan-15-11 07:19 PM by anamandujano
Only have 2 cups a day but each one gets lots of milk and sugar. Anyway, I don't care, just like reading the word coffee, makes me feel good, plus I'm drinking a cup now.
