Sea of mourners bids adieu to slain Judge John Roll
http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/news/articles/2011/01/14/20110114gabrielle-giffords-arizona-shooting-judge-john-roll-funeral.html

TUCSON - He was the kind of private man who loved to take his children for doughnuts and had the same secretary for 20 years. And federal Judge John McCarthy Roll was the kind of public man so admired that his funeral on Friday morning at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church drew 1,700 mourners, from senators to court clerks, to honor him.

Roll was killed in last Saturday's shooting north of Tucson. Among those in the congregation were Arizona Sens. John McCain and Jon Kyl, former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, Gov. Jan Brewer, former Vice President Dan Quayle and many court staffers, from bailiffs and clerks to judges, from across the state.

Also attending was shooting victim Ron Barber, a member of U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' staff. Barber, whose face still had a bandage on it and whose injured leg was in a boot, was taken to and from the hospital in an ambulance.

Hundreds more were turned away but remained outside the desert church, waiting for the ceremony to end so they could pay respects with their presence.
