1. Fortunately, we don't have those here in SE Michigan. I thought they went out of business. |

4. Why would you decide to stop at a chain while road tripping? |
|
The last thing I would do while traveling is stop at a cookie cutter restaurant (especially pizza). I am sure there were plenty of mom 'n pop shops you could have tried.

Not too proud to admit that I have not heard of that site. I usually only day trip, so I rely on word of mouth, but that site looks like a great resource.
Thanks.

14. There are some fast food/chain restaurants that are localized |
|
Edited on Mon Oct-17-11 09:02 PM by ProudToBeBlueInRhody
For example, there aren't any Sonics in New England where I live, so I stopped at one in Binghamton, NY last spring. I also ate at a Red Robin in Syracuse, because we didn't have any around here. But I see both advertise on national TV, so I was interested.
If ever went to LA, my first stop would be In N Out Burger.....we don't have them in the East.
We also don't have Godfather's here, but I've never heard of them until Cain came along and doubt I'd ever be interested in eating there anyhow especially since that asshole owns it.
I agree though that I don't understand why someone would eat at McDonalds or Subway if they had other choices when those are everywhere around the country.

I forgot about that chain until the current election hype.
Did a location search on the website and it looks like most of the locations are at truck stops (at least in my region).
I do recall going there when I was a kid (long, long time ago). They had open pies and played movies on projection tv's.
Or was that Mr. Gatti's. Now, I can't remember.
Of course, it doesn't matter, because all I can afford is Totino's Party Pizzas these days either way.

that closed up in the early nineties. It was actually decent, compared to the other chains at the time.
I've heard that's all changed.

pizza joint, it was actually pretty good. The first place was also a popular place for young Omaha singles back in the day (early 1970s).
I haven't had a Godfather's in several decades, but I imagine after Theisen sold it to Pillsbury and Cain took over the quality went straight to hell. Theisen must have made a lot of money selling out, I remember a story about him chartering a Concorde SST for a party that went to Europe and back.

Awful to me would be if the food made you sick, or the staff told you to go f*** off when you complained, ignored you or overcharged you and then refused to fix it. Yours sounds like just a fairly mediocre experience.
