The Hill Poll: Voters say Washington is worse than Wall Street
In the minds of likely voters, Washington, not Wall Street, is primarily to blame for the financial crisis and the subsequent recession.

That is the key finding of this week’s The Hill poll, which comes as the national Occupy Wall Street movement — a protest that objects to risky practices and excessive salaries at major banks, along with American income disparities in general — enters its second month.

The movement appears to have struck a chord with progressive voters, but it does not seem to represent the feelings of the wider public.

The Hill poll found that only one in three likely voters blames Wall Street for the country’s financial troubles, whereas more than half — 56 percent — blame Washington.

Moreover, when it comes to the political consequences of the protest, voters tend to believe that there are more perils than positives for Obama and the Democrats.

1. That's what's so bizarre about the attempt by some to turn OWS into an Obama rally. nt

3. It definitely isn't an Obama or a Democratic rally,
and anyone who thinks otherwise isn't paying attention.

be controlled if congress/the administration had the will, but often it's complicit IMO, and both parties are the blame.

6. Wall Street and Washington
are one in the same. We have a few good guys in there like Bernie Sanders to name just one, but for the most part, the line between the two is very thin. They have that revolving door, wall street to Washington, and vise versa. Brought even closer by Citizens United.

8. I don't think the two are separable. "Wall St has occupied Washington, so we'll Occupy Wall St"
The complaint, and you heard this from day one, is that "Wall Street has occupied Washington, so we're going to Occupy Wall Street". That's the entire idea behind the name. It's about fighting political corruption and inequality that results from the domination that Wall Street has over what happens in Washington. Protest in front of the White House all you want, you're not going to get things done. You need to point out the players who are abusing the system.

People blame Washington because Washington got bought out, but they got bought by Wall Street. They got bought out by the 1%. And if we want to fix Washington, we need to beat Wall Street. That's the reality.

9. Yes, BUSH and his administration was part of the problem.

President Obama signed the Wall Street reform bill so OBAMA is part of the SOLUTION :)
