Dylan Ratigan is a douchebag! He and Joe Scarborough must be twins. Interesting |

discussion is accepted but he nitpicks and leans so far right that he loses credibility as he purports to be neutral. He dominates the conversation and is, in most cases, sarcastic and nauseating.

Resources being *extracted* from the US for TWO UNFUNDED WARS ... Now they're coming home (YAAAAAAAY!!) and he's bitching away ... Eh, what a maroon.

7. I won't shut out my viewing because he is ignorant. It is always important to know what the |
|
adversary is doing and thinking. Then you are able to defend when necessary. To live in utopia and cancel out all that surrounds you is dangerous. I find him appalling, but you have to keep your eye on liars like him. When I defend Obama, I know who and what from.

14. You can watch whatever you want. |

But, does this really deserve a thread of its own?
Some observations and personal opinions can be kept private. Not every thought is worthy of sharing.
I guess I just don't understand why some DUers seem compelled to start new threads with pointless, personal observations. For attention, maybe?

9. I think he is probably a libertarian. |
|
That means that when he is correct, he is really on, but when he works on one of his false libertarian assumptions, he is absolutely way, way off. It is fun to watch him struggle to reconcile the conflict between his natural common sense and the libertarian nonsense he has been taught to believe (don't know where).
The libertarians remind me of Voltaire's character Pangloss from Candide who premises his philosophy (and his life) on "the best of all possible worlds."
No need for regulation or rules or even law in "the best of all possible worlds."
In that world, children do not die because their sleeping bags catch fire.
In that world, the groundwater can't be contaminated by industrial waste.
In that world, radioactive substances do not kill.
In that world, believe it or not, drunk drivers who speed never kill.
It's the best of all possible worlds. That is the libertarian world.
Unfortunately, our world is not the best of all possible worlds.
Dylan Ratigan knows that very well, but he still assumes that so that he can believe in his free market, libertarian dreams.
Our world is not a utopia, Mr. Ratigan. Continue to have faith in libertarianism, and you may well end up like Pangloss. If you don't know how he ended up, read the book and find out. The book is delightful. That's Voltaire.

from the few times I've watched his show, I've found myself in full agreement with what he's said. I have never seen him give a conservative slant on anything but maybe it's because I don't watch him often. I'm guessing you're just pissed because he doesn't worship the ground Obama walks on, so you gotta tear him down.

15. I tend to agree. He's no liberal but has a much more sane slant on what is happening |
|
than most who call themselves Democrats.
Any serious questioning of our broken systems is worthy of encouragement, regardless if our pols happen to be marginally "in charge".
As far as I can tell the impact on the "common wisdom" is an easy net positive whatever the ideology of the host, staying at the heart of our problems inevitably makes our case. Ratigan takes these debates to a place where the prevailing ideology cannot function, that is a win.

16. I'm happy to have any voices in the media who criticize corporate corruption.. |

and speak out against the fraud in our financial sector.
I don't give a shit if he's an arrogant douchebag who never loved Obama. It's time to focus on what matters most right now, and in that fight, Ratigan has proven to be useful.
