Rick Perry protests "intellectual" analysis of his jobs plan. |
|
Edited on Sun Oct-30-11 11:47 PM by woo me with science
Background: Fox News Sunday. Chris Wallace runs a video clip of a Rick Perry campaign ad that promises 2.5 million new jobs. Then this absolutely perfect conversation ensues:
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP, PERRY CAMPAIGN AD)
PERRY: As president, I'll create at least 2.5 million new jobs, and I know something about that.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
.....(snip)....
WALLACE: But how do you answer this question. Two and half million doesn't keep pace with the population growth. We would -- our unemployment rate would increase under this goal?
PERRY: I don't believe that for a minute. That is just absolutely false on its face. Americans will get back to work. Are we going to go out and make some, you know, claim and say, oh, it's going to create 10.5 million jobs? We would be having the same conversation. Oh, that's not realistic.
I will tell you one thing. You give this plan a chance. You put Americans where they know that they can pay their income tax on a postcard, that they're going to have those kind of cuts, that they're going to have a balanced budget amendment to the United States Constitution in four years and they will go back to work. Manufacturing jobs will come back to this country.
The idea that I'm going to let people talk this plan down for the sake of just having an intellectual discussion is not correct.

Found this link but it's 26 minutes long ;( http://video.foxnews.com/v/1249929139001/rick-perry-reboots-presidential-campaign/p.s. Maybe FoxNews doesn't post 'short' videos of the 'crazy' stuff ;) Edited to add: The part of the video referenced in the OP starts at the 15:30 minute mark.

4. Because haviang an intellectual discussion |
|
is necessary in considering any major economic proposal?
I guess Perry is saying we should just take his plan on blind faith. Pray that it works.

At the 18:20 minute mark, Perry says he is the Commander-in-Chief of 20,000 Texas National Guard troops. Governor's are not the Commanders of National Guard troops. Palin tried to pull that same talking point in the past and it didn't work for her either.
Edited to add And at the 20:00 minute mark he says: * subsadation * - that is NOT a word. He might have been thinking 'subsidization'.

Why, when they mention how many jobs they created as governor/senator/representative, or talk about how many jobs their employment plans are going to create, someone doesn't have the brains/balls to say, "But governor/senator... I thought government didn't create jobs?"

11. If he didn't want to have an "intellectual discussion" |
|
he never should have appeared on that hot bed of intellectualism, the Fox News(?) Channel, or talked to that well known intellectual Chris Wallass.

I have never seen a group of people dumber than these pathetic republican "candidates". Watching them is like watching the primate cage at the zoo: it's entertaining, but at some point you have to move on. But not yet.

20. Them damn thinkers; they hurt ya ev'ry time |

Rick Perry is a litmus test for the breaking point of reality.
Yes, it's been an effective ploy since the beginning of the republic to scoff at the high-toned thinky types, but that tack can only go so far. Perhaps we owe it to him to find the cut-off point. Sadly, though, that theory is premised upon anyone in the establishment "non-right" actually standing up and fighting for anything.
