Union workers saved my Dad's life last night.
Edited on Mon Oct-31-11 01:54 PM by Botany
Those no good lazy public workers saved my Dad's life last night.

Last night at about 9:45 PM my 83 year old father (who at one time worked for Bill Miller) passed out at his desk .... my mom was unable to revive him so she called 911 and then me
..... by the time my son and I got to his house 2 squads of salt of the earth good fire and rescue workers were there working on my Dad who was grey and cold but they stabilized him
gave him some fluids and he was at least able to be able to talk to his wife, his grandson, and me as they were loading him into the ambulance. One of the EMTs who is a friend of the
family was there and looked up at me and said "We got this and he is going to be fine." Even though it was not his job he climbed into the ambulance and said to him something like
he was going to take this ride w/ him.

This morning I talked to my dad who is now resting and in stable condition @ the hospital and he asked if his grandson could stop by for a visit and could he bring him a book to
read and the newspaper.

In Ohio the public employees did not send all those jobs overseas, make Wall Street and the banks bundle bad mortgagees into "investments" as they bet against them,
and or drive the economy into a ditch just so a very few could make billions. All they do is fix the roads, teach our kids, and sometimes save somebody's life.

I will go to downtown Columbus tomorrow and proudly vote early for the right of those wonderful men and women to collectively bargain for their working conditions and wages.

28. Kasich's SB 5 is gonna get hammered
I have been seeing anti SB 5 signs in republican lawns and even our local State Senator who voted for SB 5 doesn't
have a pro SB 5 in his yard ...... I have only seen maybe 12 pro SB 5 signs in the past 3 months.

BTW typing up the O.P. caused tears in my eyes too and there are some really bad typos in it too.

14. Oh, Botany, I'm so glad your dad is okay.
I registered to vote in Ohio specifically to vote this damn bill down. The commercials on TV make me livid. I might only be in Ohio for a year (though maybe longer), but it is my patriotic duty to tell the SB5 supporters to shove off.

I cannot wait to cast my vote next week.

18. Glad to hear your Dad's OK and a shout out to the EMTs
who helped your family!

And your next to last paragraph is SO right on! It applies to the working class ALL OVER THE WORLD! WE didn't tank the economy and need to be bailed out and we shouldn't have to pay for the fuck ups of those who did! THAT'S what the working class in Greece, Spain, Portugal, Britian, Ireland, Italy and the United States are all fighting for. Accountability for the ones who DID tank the economy.

NO TO AUSTERITY! And I'll add, NO TO CAPITALISM!

26. Great that Your Dad is OK! k & r
Hope they determine what caused Him to "pass out" like that. Most probably it was a heart arrhythmia. First
He needs a cardiac catheterization and an ECHO cardiogram. (I work in an ICU)

31. he already has a pacemaker ....
Edited on Tue Nov-01-11 10:41 AM by Botany
.... it looks like it was electrolyte imbalance caused by a urinary tract infection but if not for the work of the EMTs
he would have died. Although his doctors are running tests to rule out anything else.

34. I'm glad the docs are looking...
electrolyte imbalances can cause arrhythmias as electrical conduction of the heart needs potassium & other electrolytes to be in proper balance. They always render a person more prone to arrhythmias. They may, in the end, upgrade His pacer to one that has a defibrillator built in. (Those ICDs (implantable cardiac defibrillator) always attempt to pace the Patient out of the arrhythmia before shocking so they are safer than they sound.
That fact that He has a pacer already & "passed out" makes it almost certain an arrhythmia overrode or overpowered the pacemaker. If He has a bladder infection or any infection they will not do a cardiac catheterization until the infection is cleared up. He may be in a tad of acute kidney failure at this time also.

35. They have done a CAT scan .... looked @ his brain ....
.... checked his kidneys ...... and looked @ his blood chemistry .... and before he goes home that will put a camera down
his throat to get a look at his heart (under a light anesthesia).

His cardiologist, G.P., and Urologist are all looking in on him now and he is getting excellent medical care right now.
He is an example of the top flight medical care you can get in America if you have money and insurance.

Thanx so much for you interest.

38. great! the scoping down His throat is an echocardiogram
to look at His heart from behind as the esophagus runs behind the heart. They'll look for blood clots in the top chambers of His heart among other things (his valves). It's an excellent test!

He is in Ohio and he told a jerk on a WLW Radio Show in Cincinnati that if this continues there will be many people who will NOT get the care they need if this Bill is not voted down with a NO vote! The Jerk named Doc something said he didn't think the Police and Fireman and Teachers deserved a good wage! He said they should pay their way like he had too - yeah right - wonder who stressful his "talking head" job is?

42. I just voted in Warren County Ohio...
and voted no on Issue 2. I stand with you in support of our public workers in Ohio. Glad to hear your father is okay.

The Mason Fire Department saved our house October 26, 2009 at 2:11 AM. Thanks to them we only had smoke damage but the damages did come to $210,000, which LG (as in large Korean Corporation) paid the entire amount to our insurance compamy brcause of a faulty portable dehumidifer that caught on fire in the basement (the product was a known fire hazzard and they chose not to recall the product). Nationwide returned our deductable to us. We were lucky to get out of the house with our two sons and pets. There was real potential to lose everything that night.
