Reagan, D.C.
Edited on Tue Nov-01-11 05:22 PM by itsrobert
New push by house GOP leaders to rename the US Capitol, Reagan, D.C. Senior Republican leaders are citing the authority established in Article I, Section 8 of the United States Constitution, which states that Congress shall have the power: To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States. The phrase "exclusive legislation in all Cases whatsoever" has been interpreted to mean that Congress has complete authority over the District, thereby limiting local self government by the city's residents.

The GAO has estimated the cost to replace Washington with Reagan on government documents, city signs, and in other areas will be in excess of $900 Billion. This $900 Billion will be offset by cuts to social programs and a generous donation of $100 Million sponsorship campaign by McDonald's Corporation. The full name will be Reagan, D.C. sponsored by McDonald's.

10. Ditto, Sherman A1
Lived in DC 40 years.

It will ALWAYS be Washington National Airport to me.

The glorification and sanctification of that "amiable dunce" actor who destroyed PATCO and the middle class is beyond reason. The dumbing down of America as exemplified by the stupid reukes who revere him.

12. NATIONAL Airport. As at least one pilot flying out of Texas put it.
Also, that statue looks like it'd be ripe for shrine offerings and memorial items left behind by fans of Reagan at the Air Traffic Controllers Union.

4. Christ! Another useless bullshit bill by useless bullshit legislators.
Hey Repukes - how many jobs is that going to create? Oh well, as long as it will cut social programs to make this happen then all is right in GOP land.

All I see is a picture of the statue :puke: and a brief article about it from the Moonie Times.

This has GOT to be from The Onion.

13. LOL! C'mon, admit it--you made this up
The Moonie Times story (at second link) is on the unveiling of a Reagan statue at National Airport. Even that rag limits the hyperbole to describing the 9-ft.-tall statue as "towering."

16. Just another way of obstructing.

The Greedy Obstructionist Perverts know if they waste time and resources with silly
bullshit like this that it is less likely that anything positive might be accomplished.

18. They'll be wanting the United States of Reagan pretty soon.
You'll drive on the Reagan Turnpike (not freeway) to the Reagan Post Office where you'll buy Reagan stamps to mail your payment to the Reagan Insurance Co. with a check from the First National Bank of Reagan...etc. etc.

...That's if they have their way.
