Was health care vote in Ohio a rebuke of Obama's healthcare plan?
Edited on Wed Nov-09-11 02:51 PM by kentuck
If so, would it have been easier to sell a single payer system or a public option to the voters over the Obama plan? I wonder if a single payer health plan would have done better if it had been on the ballot?

The Republicans are using yesterday's vote as justification that they are on the right track attacking Obama. Why did #2 succeed and #3 fail??

5. Thanks for the post.
I had not read that. Sometimes a lot of posts get by without being able to read them. I'm glad that DUers keep the worthy posts near the front page.

4. I believe it failed because it was badly worded.
People did not understand it. That's why they voted against it.

7. I think they better consider that SB5 failed because

many of their party are union members and didn't like giving up bargaining rights. I really don't think Dems would have voted to ditch the Affordable Health Care act so that means repubs and tps voted against union breaking.

On edit: The wording was poor also. Same old shit, I learned long ago to read referendums carefully with all the double negatives etc.

8. More like a cleverly written ballot
It was confusing to those of us who knew what we should be voting. Can't image what it was like for the less informed.

9. agreed
I didn't even try to parse the language; I just knew the history of the initiative and that 'no' was the answer I wanted.
