Amazing! Texas Department of Transportation voted to axe the racist license plates!
I cannot believe I'm saying this, but maybe something more substantial than the just the comedic pleasure of watching Perry fumble about has come from his running for the GOP nomination.

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles unanimously voted against a proposal to allow Confederate battle flags on vanity license plates.

African-American leaders warned the agency's board that Confederate license plates would disrespect their community because the Confederate flag remains a symbol of hate, repression and a badge of slavery.

Gov. Rick Perry had remained silent on the controversy until telling reporters in Florida recently that he opposes putting the Confederate battle flag image on Texas license plates.

"That's just a part of history that you don't need to scrape that wound again," Perry said two weeks ago.

1. What is meant by people who want to wave the Confederate flag.

I can see it in art or history or civil war reenactments but to just wave it in people's faces is some kind of statement.

The South of 1860 was supported by slaves. The landed gentry would have no wealth if it wasn't created by slave labor yet the right is telling Occupy folks to get a job as they wave the flag of the lazy unemployed slave owners on the plantations.

Maybe they just want to support the 1% from 1860.

2. thank goodness.
I hate the argument that somehow it represents white Southern culture. As an ex-Southerner, I say hell no, it doesn't represent me; it represents slavery, oppression, and white supremacy.
