Whale cemetery discovered in Chile
http://www.skynews.com.au/offbeat/article.aspx?id=684616&vId=2845214&cId=Offbeat

team of palaeontologists working in northern Chile has unearthed an ancient whales' graveyard filled with fossils dating back seven million years.

The discovery of around 80 fossils was made just outside of the port city of Caldera, 869km (540 miles) north of Santiago.

John Vega, site manager, said the size of the find exceeded all their expectations.

'In 15 days, we have had almost 15 whales. It really was a surprise. We didn't expect to find so many fossils in one place,' said Vega.

The team has been carefully extracting the ancient remains from the site since May.

Chief palaeontologist Marion Suarez said the discovery had huge significance.

So, now we know. We aren't the only sentient beings on the planet. All beings are sentient, we are just mono-lingual and can only speak human.

4. 80 Fossils in 7,000,000 Years?
That's one every 90,000 years. This is a trend?

9. Maybe the ocean in that area was filled with wales, like grouper
and so when they died they just floated to the bottom. The whole bottom of the ocean is filled with sea animal bones. This is just interesting because of the proximity between the animals.

Then again maybe when a wale knew it was going to die it went to that area to leave life behind. I don't think wales have the ability to lug another dead wale around but maybe I am thinking small.
