Porno, olive garden, smoking in bars, abortion, breast feeding, guns, Steve Irwin, pit bulls, a couch on a porch, fracking, John Edwards and his house and hair, $42 a year, I could go on (add your own).
DU - it is a place we come to discuss, disagree, and learn about a great many things. We argue, we post things that back up our own ideals and views - all the while seeing the views of others.
We see news stories not shown on the regular media.
People scour the web and post things that keep us coming back, and we get to discuss it. Get to put our own 2 cents in.
We can rant and have our friends comfort us and give us much needed input.
Regardless of what we think of the new DU coming (and I have read many of those threads and posted one myself) right now there is a fund raiser going on and DU needs us. It is a wonderful place for me and many others, on many dark nights I found solace here.
I know what it takes to run a site, and if I could I would donate more this round (may not be able to at all, depends on what happens this week).
A BIG THANK YOU to those who have been here and kept DU running all this time, and I am not talking about Skinner and the admins (though a big thanks to them) - I mean thank you to all those that have donated...and not just money but posts.
You gave me a place to rant and talk. A place to post cool stories and get input that differed from my own.
Not a perfect place, but one that has allowed me to post here even when I was going through hell and was a jerk. Through my worst nights when I didn't have family to talk to, I had people here who lifted me up. Most of my best friends have passed on. I have bared my soul here and had people reply to me and lifted me up.
Thanks. From the biggest donor to the admins to the people just replying to me. You got me through a lot and what you have said, done, posted has helped me a lot.
