Pennsylvanians: how did District Judge Leslie Dutchcot get her job? |
In New York, judges at all levels run for office on a party line. In Ohio, they used to be elected but didn't have a party line at the poll booth. How is it done in Pennsylvania?

1. Don't know that judge. What I do know is that for local judges |
they are elected, and you don't know what their party affiliation is unless you check with your local party headquarters.

3. Can anyone find out who endorsed this judge? |
The first time I voted in Ohio, I carefully checked the judges and determined that yes, indeed, I preferred the Democrats. Since I'm terrible with names, I planned on voting the party line. I was very chagrined to find out that while NYS lists judges on the party line, Ohio at that time listed them in alphabetical order!

5. Do you really have to ask? |
Can I say Slappy Thomas? Elections for judge in PA are non-partisan. I don't have a problem with that. What I really have a problem with is that there is basically no information on candidates for any office. I've ragged on the local fish wrap for years. Can't you cover the county commissioners meetings? How about filling that rag with profiles of those running for office?
