We are, quite truthfully, at a real fork in the dang road.
First what I expect...
All OWS encamptments will be gone by the day before thankgiving. We cannot have such flash points when austerity and "entitlement cuts" are announced. This is like power is predictable 101.
I also expect increased, not decreased police powers.
Will they be declared? You silly...in a nation of laws they'd do that. But we are no longer that.
Now here is where the fork lies...depending on how OWS reacts this might not happen, as well as courts. Given that the judge who signed the restraining order has been removed that is a signal that things will just ratchet up. It was, quite literally a shot across the bow of the judiciary. Oh and don't expect any relief from the President or the administration. The silence is quite telling of where they stand.

3. Marches and rallies, perhaps? |
|
The occupations are great, but in practical terms not everyone can participate in those. There were scheduled marches and rallies a few weeks ago, that drew HUGE numbers of people who couldn't otherwise camp out. Perhaps these need to happen EVERY weekend? Every evening after work?
We can still occupy these public spaces without spending the night in them.

Join actions this Thursday if possible.
Study the past.
And keep the conversation going.

13. last night i was hoping the veterans would appear |
|
today i want the best progressive constitutional lawyers in the country to file suit against the mayors who conspired against their citizenry
i can hardly see straight i am so pissed..for some strange reason i watched the occupy oakland raid in the middle of the night on sunday and then last night i watched this raid..disturbing to say the least..usually i'm asleep at those times but i watched in utter disgust and horror..I cant be in the streets physically but i can do anything this movement needs for me to do and im ready and willing..
millions of others are as horrified as me...the unions need to get back in the streets as well..twice as many..three times as many
the first blizzard would have taken out some of the camps anyway..we should count this as an opportunity to evolve and escalate
on a final note, i would like for anonymous to playfully disrupt or expose something big..

them yet.
I'm trying to understand what the difference is between here and Egypt. I suspect is because too many 'millions' don't realize yet that they're oppressed?
ETA: Someone said that part of the difference is because we're such a huge country - we can't all meet in DC or NY, too many people can't afford to get there.

14. I suspect quiet over the winter - especially after TPTB clear out everyone for the holidays |
|
in houston, for example, the occupation is across the street from the hobby center (and nearby other theatres) - i'm expecting they will clear them out so they can present their fantasy shows/lights without reality interfering.
Spring/summer should be stronger with an election coming, but I don't expect serious action until after our POTUS is re-elected (and I do suspect he will be re-elected against the dingbats that are running - he's far more effective than any of them could ever be). With the 2nd term comes the austerity, and that is when things could get interesting.

19. If TPTB think their tactics will kill the movement, they're wrong. |
|
They are assuming the people in the encampments and external supporters are just a bunch of "low-life, pot smoking hippies" who will give up and decide it's not worth fighting them. The opposite will happen....

20. Start making lists of all Wall Street Candidates and Elected |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-15-11 03:35 PM by sabrina 1
officials, that would include those who ordered the silencing of the American People, mayors, Reps etc. who failed to speak up for them, and publish them in full page ads in major newspapers around the country.
Include listing their Donors and connecting their behavior to Wall Street and their willingness to try to silence the 99%.
Then demand in another full page ad, that all those seeking election or reelection, sign a pledge to refuse Wall Street money or be subjected to a primary, by the people.
Do not give up on encampments, start occupying homes in Foreclosure eg, as some are already discussing. And plan for a huge occupation of DC. If they don't want people all over the country, then let them deal with millions in DC. They don't have to camp out there, they can organize shifts as the Egyptians did, where no one has to sleep anywhere, but one group stays all night, another moves in during the day etc.
But they cannot kill an idea and they are stupid if they think this movement is going away, their behavior has only proved what the protesters are saying.
They could also organize into a new Peoples' Parties and take over the two useless Business organizations calling themselves political parties.
One party to take over the Republicans another to take over the Democrats.
Let's occupy the Political Parties. I have seen some remarkable, intelligent people since this movement began. Any one of them would make better Representatives than the sorry excuses for Reps currently running this country for the 1%
They can move people out with their superior, military forces, but they cannot kill an idea.
