1. ACLU & NLG r suing Oakland trying to get emergency order to keep police from using tear gas.
Says #Occupy Oakland

Also:

last night in NYC, police shut down the subways, closed Brooklyn Bridge, used helicopters to keep news choppers away, parked police buses in front of reporters so they could not see what was happening, before they assaulted the protesters at the Park. they used tear gas.
( all this info from Twitter and http://occupywallst.org/article/nypd-raiding-liberty-square/)

8. Thanks for one thread. Please... regarding provocateurs ....and police.
Edited on Tue Nov-15-11 04:48 PM by peacetalksforall
Can we coordinate old and future videos as to their uniforms'? And the items they are holding in their hands?

I was never able to find the video again of the window and wall breakers and defacers in Portland, but in that video I was struck by what they had in their hands and how they were dressed.

I am quite sure they held batons = if they were militant stubborn protestors. We should all know that batons cost about $75 to 100 each at police supply ordering houses on the internet. Does that make sense?

Masks over the face? Obviously not wanting to be taped and recognized.

And that dark grey clothing - the photo above does not look like police to me? That's what I saw in the clothing of the 'provocateurs' in Oakland.

Is that the uniform of the SWAT teams?

What are we looking at here? Was it Berkeley where they used five different sources for uniforms.

And when and how do OWS supporters get on mainstream to point out guns.

How appropriate are guns for this protest?

I am appalled by the above photo and I feel sorry for protestors everywhere where they pull come at us like we were terrorists in Iraq, pull hair, shoot canisters, throw people on the ground. beat them with 'things they have in their hands, kick. These are actions by police from criminals.

I hope there is a lot of legal input here.

I applaud one thread. Thanks to those who asked for it.

23. To answer some of your questions:
"Masks over the face? Obviously not wanting to be taped and recognized."
Last night in NYC during the raid, intrepid ustream video filmed "provocateurs" in bandannas on their faces, who were trying to instigate violence, who were letting the air out of police car tires, and who rushed at and threatened the guy filming them. I saw it live.
There are many reports of people like these at Occupy sites, most notably in Oakland, SF, and NYC.
Esp in Oakland some of them were identified as police infiltrators who were trying to start a riot so the cops would have REAL probable cause.

"Is that the uniform of the SWAT teams?"
The riot police dress like all over the place now. SWAY usually have sign-age on their vests, but all that "storm trooper" padding is normal for regular police when they are going up against un armed people.

"What are we looking at here?"
As I wrote above the pic, Chapel Hill NC Occupy when it was raided.

"Was it Berkeley where they used five different sources for uniforms."
Oakland. They had called 5 different police Dept including Alameda Sheriffs.

"And when and how do OWS supporters get on mainstream to point out guns."
Many people have cameras and not all of them can be blocked.
See the guy in the green hat? He is an official observer, and is not supposed to be harmed by police
( but they do assault the observers anyhow)

"How appropriate are guns for this protest?"
they are not.
part of it is intimidation. The beauty is that OWS folks do not intimidate easily and are very committed to non-violence/

37. Thanks. There is a lot to be worried about, for me its the provocateurs. The spotlight has to be
turned on them. More people have to know what is going on.

Thanks for all your answers. I appreciate it and will watch
the videos again.

Those camera and videos and livestream people are heroes and heroines. Thanks everyone.o

12. Thank you.
I don't get here nearly often enough to keep up and I am very interested in all of this.

Man oh man when they lose they are going to lose big. This is not what you see in a "free" country. This is not going to end well for them, unless we lose but I don't think the people manning the Occupy movement have any intentions of letting this stop them. Brave and stubborn souls trying to save the country. This is always how it goes down. My heart and thanks go to each of them and my wishes they stay safe.

13. OWS loses
rom the Daily News' Greg Smith:

A judge backed up Mayor Bloomberg’s clean sweep of Zuccotti Park Tuesday, ruling that the city has the right to keep Occupy Wall Street protestors from camping out in what’s supposed to be a 24-hour open space for all of the public.

The ruling from the bench by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Michael Stallman will likely be appealed so it’s not yet clear whether the city will reopen the park and allow in protestors – without tents.

The first judge was taken off the case for bogus reasons. Bloomie hand picked this judge and probably paid him for this ruling.

25. Can't believe they care about the little 'ole protest in Houston -
but they do: http://occupyhouston.org/2011/11/houston-police-on-site-at-tranquility-park/

Latest from FB: Occupy Houston
Update on Tranquility Park: The police have confiscated the tarps we had on our tables to protect our things from today's rainstorm. There are only a handful of officers left on site now. We're holding an emergency general assembly.

Would not be surprised if her ladyship was on the conference call:

28. Zuccotti protesters were told they could pick up their belongings, BUT:
Bloomberg said this a.m. that people can go pick up their stuff that was taken from the park last night from the Sanitation Dept. garage on the west side. But the Sanit crews were told to treat it all as trash and they dumped and destroyed much of it including not only the OWS Library >5k of books but all the medical supplies in the med tent. I've heard people who were there last night say the garbage men were taking things home saying "this would just go to the landfill if I didn't take it" when told it was private property. (From a friend on Facebook who lives near Zuccotti)

34. Good God
The next time it may fire.

Sadly, I look at the Cube sculpture behind them and remember a story from an old National Lampoon (Or Harvard Lampoon; same staff).

There were peaceful creatures living in the cube. There may have been some psychedelia involved.

38. I saw that photo from Chapel Hill, where there were only a few
protesters. As someone said, 'it looks like Iraq'. They are at war with their own people. But why? It's got to be more than just money. There is enough money to go around. It's as if crazy people are in charge, no, they ARE in charge. No sane person would do this to their own people and still pretend we are living in a democracy.
