Please post snarky comments, ridicule, and other satisfyingly vicious remarks!! (esp. Teachers)
Hello, I'm here for therapy.

I'm hoping that if I share this, and get enough scathing replies, I'll feel better.

So let's say there's this community arts school, where some glittery DU member has worked for a long time, and it's run more and more like a corporation. Imagine any school run like a corporation, to the extreme.

There's a division between the upstairs administration, and the downstairs faculty and students. There is no faculty liason to the board. Nobody in the administration knows anything about teaching. They are empowered for loyalty, not for ability.

The school now has an "Education Department." That's right -- a school that thinks so much of its administrative importance that education is a freaking Department!!!!!!!!

The CEO is a snake, who stoops to unimaginable lows to cover his ass. And the loyal people around him circle the wagons whenever anyone makes waves.

So let's say this long-term employee is PISSED OFF AS HELL AND WISHES SHE COULD SUE THE PANTS OFF THEM BUT PROBABLY CAN'T BECAUSE NOBODY WOULD TESTIFY... for example.

What horrible (but possibly hilarious) things would YOU say about this school to cheer her up a little?

Feel free to include points about a school with a top-heavy corporate structure and a scummy CEO and now an "Education Department."

Thanks for letting me share.

4. Do you think the management team could pass the school's exit exam?
If you've ever seen that show Undercover Boss it's utterly hilarious how bad some CEOs are at the jobs of their lower level workers.

The ones you're working for sound like that, incompetent at anything other than being an officious prick.

7. There isn't one...
But you pegged it --they know NOTHING of the substance of the school. They're more important than that.

They're the business people, and they suck at that -- the school loses money every year, misses obvious opportunities, and only digs in deeper doing what they've been doing.

The board is a certain "social set" who don't seem to care.

Yup -- the level of incompetence is mind-boggling, but the one thing they can do is be officious (and nasty and cruel) pricks.

Ahh... Thanks for your participation.. :hi:

2. Wow....sounds horrible
But, then, administrator is just a long word for Idiot.

That's how you spell Guru too...I D I O T.

So, all of the teachers are in the "education" department? Or do the administrators do that too.

Good luck....maybe they'll all get hit by a falling space station piece while having an expensive lunch somewhere!

5. Thank you!!!
No, the administrators aren't in the "Education Department" -- they're the bosses!!

By the way, the head of this "Education Department" has no teaching experience... But what else would we expect from the Corporate Executive Idiot who makes the decisions??

:hi:

3. Wow, they really sound like useless pieces of flint
I really, really wish school administration positions required, by Federal law, classroom experience. I would say four years should be a bare minimum.

8. Absolutely!!
The CEO prizes people with little experience at all. But if they've pushed paper across desks for a few years, that counts WAY more than teaching for 25. Seriously.

Thanks. I'm starting to feel better.

"Useless pieces of flint" -- I like it. :hi:

11. When I was in middle school,
the Art teacher would have a display for the parents to come see the work that their little ones produced. Each year, she put up a large sign saying "Art Objects". Each year someone would write on it "And so do I".

12. It is convocation week.
I have no snark left, I have expended it all on tech day, eight hours of extended advertising for McAphee, Blackboard, Lenova, and a host of other companies. I have attended a sufficient number of workshops for my long form. There is no energy, sarcasm, wisdom or pissedoffness left.

13. Fart in a box.
Employ one of those anonymous mailing services or have a friend in another county/state send them a box with just one lonely slip of paper in it that says:

CONGRATULATIONS! You are the lucky recipient of this... FART IN A BOX! You have EARNED it! Thanks for being such an awesome administrator. The "atmosphere" you provide is worthy of this noble award.

14. Yes!
The note is important, because given that atmosphere they might otherwise fail to notice the fart.

I know just the stinker to provide the fart, too.

Excellent... :hi:
