Nice, so anybody who has a suit on or is dressed nice is harrassed |
|
watching the live stream, just saw it twice in three minutes..
Last one a Big bald dude with a wool coat on and a tie I heard him say "Quit pointing at me, Fuck you" to some guy with a cardboard sign...
Now I can see why one of my co-workers who works right around the corner from there (walks to work everyday) is pissed off. He does marketing by the way, we have nothing to do with "wall street"...

FU is a natural response to someone saying, "Get out of my way!" "Excuse me" would get him to his destination faster.

But so what? The guy could have simply smiled and given a thumbs up to the people with the cardboard signs. There was no need to feel pissed off and say 'Fuck you'.
People need to learn to shrug off the little things.

37. Nah. I look like Tommy Chong but love wearing a 3-piece suit. |
|
Sure, that's a little unusual, but I've always liked vests and whether I'm in jeans and a flannel shirt or a suit, I want a vest in the winter and sometimes wear one in the summer. They look great with a dress shirt and noose (excuse me, "tie").

protests, for the impact of the clothing. Never been harassed (one r) not once in 30 years. Except by law enforcement, of course. Anyone who has ever been on a picket line would see Big Bald Guy as a whining scab, and would expect to hear the taunts and whines of the scabs and sell outs. Goes with the territory, so let Big Bald express himself, it just proves the point of the protesters. Oh, and marketing in and of itself can be one of the least ethical and most pernicious lines of work. It is all in how you do it and what you do it for. And you leave those details out, which in a marketer tends to indicate a lack of comfort with the details excluded.

42. That's the way it goes... |
|
apparently.
People make assumptions based on appearance.
A guy could be dressed in suit and tie because he has to go to court or something. Or maybe he has an interview for a mail clerk's job.
If he's wearing a suit....OMG!!!! He just has to be one of the 1%!!!
Another assumption people make...it's OK to deface some large gas guzzling vehicle parked in the city because it just HAS to be owned by someone who actually lives in the city and doesn't even need to be driving it. I have a Hummer. I live in the woods on a dirt road. I do sometimes go into the city. So, without knowing the details, some asswipe is going to flatten my tires or key my doors because he thinks I'm just another city-dwelling (Republican) pig?
That's just as disgusting an attitude as the reverse one where people think just because a person is wearing jeans and boots, he's going to rip off everything in their fucking stores.
Or, just because they don't have a certain "look", they can't afford to shop anywhere but in the Bargain Basement.
People sit on their high horses thinking they don't judge others, but they really do.

47. You are assuming that both parties were not doing theater... |
|
and how odd to foist your paranoid imaginings of your Hummer being vandalized. That did not happen, did it, just a thing you fear. Trust me, dear, the vast majority simply laughs a derisive laugh at Hummer drivers. If your precious HumVee military vehicle had actually been harmed, you might have a point, as it is, you just have a clown car.

|
Edited on Thu Nov-17-11 12:16 PM by redqueen
Stop the presses!
Not only do the crowds at OWS demonstrations display the same human failings as other people (though obviously not quite as much as some whose football teams have lost, or won, or who aren't allowed to drink on their college campus anymore... but I digress)... anyway not only are they the same with respect to drugs and disorderliness as other people, but now you're telling me that some of THEM are also RUDE? Just like other people sometimes are?
Oh. My. Fucking. God.
This is the end. There is no hope for the movement. We have no halos. We are doomed.

At least he's not getting pummelled with batons or seared with pepper spray or knocked to the ground and arrested for exercising HIS rights!
At least HIS belongings are not ripped from him and thrown in dumpsters!
At least the business in which HE is engaged is conducted without police threats, incarceration or fines!
Your selective sympathy is noted...your sense of proportion is ridiculed.
