Super Committee Negotiations Now About How To Fail Gracefully
http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/11/super-committee-negotiations-now-about-how-to-fail-gracefully.php

A highly placed Democratic source weighs in on the current state of Super Committee negotiations.

“Conversations are still happening, but its mostly about how to put this thing to bed,” the aide says.

In other words, the ongoing conversations are mainly about putting the best face on failure rather than finding actual agreement.

This will come as no surprise to anybody who’s been following the committee’s progress (or lack thereof) over the last couple weeks. And it doesn’t preclude the slim possibility that the panel will agree on at least a small package of budget cuts before Monday. Other sources say they’re holding out hope for a last minute come-to-Jesus moment (for Democrats this means Republicans agreeing to significant new tax revenues). But it’s as close to a death knell as we’ve seen so far.

3. I think this is going to be non-event... seems nobody cares anymore.
The debt ceiling was raised. That was the most critical issue. The automatic cuts dont kick in until 2013 which gives congress plenty of time to repeal them. Investors dont seem to care either. Stock market is fine. As long as the rating agencies dont downgrade us then it most likely will be no impact on anything.

The debt "crisis" was manufactured by the Republicans to make Obama look bad and give them cred with the Teaparty morans. Its an issue but it doesnt need to be addressed now. It can wait until after the elections and after the economy becomes more stable.

5. Obama wins while the Super Committee Dems take heat
for the GOP's failure. Unfortunate that some good Dems are getting hated on after all this.

6. Actually I think most people blame the Republicans for being so hard core against tax revenue.
Although no doubt there are many who blame both sides equally.

4. The only agreement this farce was designed to come to was to gut SSI and the social programs. If

that is too toxic for them to accomplish now GOOD.
Remember this "Super Crap Sandwich" was formed as a result of the GOP not wanting to raise the Debt Limit.
The Debt limit needed to be raised because the GOP cut taxes and supported TWO WARS without paying for them.
Now they can't cut the deficit because they refuse to raise taxes.
A POX on them.
