12. The one thing that hurts this argument is when farmers say Americans won't do harvesting work.

14. Aren't farmers exempt from paying minimum wage? Yes, Americans won't work for next to free.

17. Oh, that's right.
We're expected to spell out the fact that we would appreciate it if said jobs met national lawful standards for pay, safety, working conditions and age requirements.

20. If they don't shouldn't they be made compliant so people can do these jobs?

23. People try to make them compliant. But when the powerful fight against "regulation," that becomes
very, very difficult, as you know.

24. Well then catch 22. The only jobs that seem to be available are ones that break the law.
You are asserting the conditions are illegal right?

25. Many laws are broken when it comes to farming jobs, yep.
"The only jobs that seem to be available are ones that break the law," nope. But since you were talking about farming jobs, I followed your lead.

28. Yes I am talking specifically about farming jobs.
Eating is a necessity of life. Jobs that provide our food are essential and should be treated as such instead of some second class throwaway job.

19. Americans won't work at a job that pays less in a day than the gas to drive to it.
Even the dimmest among us knows that if you spend twenty dollars driving to and from a jobsite and only earn thirty, it's futile to do so.

What is your next right-wing talking point?

Child Labor Laws killing the woolen mill industry?

If there are soo many jobs out there,he must have done an amazing job creating them.

5. The traditional notion of what a job is, how created, and how that relates to
individual financial stability needs to change radically for the 21st century. Yep, people saying "get a job" are showing their profound level of ignorance, and frankly IMO their sociopathic roots as to how they think (if at all).

6. They're in denial because it's too scary if the problem is real...
...and not just about lazy people.

That's the whole story of the Republican party - fear and denial.

And every single Sunday at least one idiot would drive by and yell "GET A JOB!" and I would yell back "BUT IT'S THE SABBATH!"

10. I think at this point it's more important to point out the stupidity
rather than the heartlessness. The kind of people that say that enjoy their heartlessness. What they don't like is being called out on their utter stupidity. And this one is such an easy win seeing as they KNOW there are no jobs to be had. It's also rather amusing to note the ones that say this that don't have a job themselves because someone else is taking care of them or they're retired having enjoyed the benefit of a time when there was a far better economy, far more union wages, regulated corporations, far cheaper 100% paid-for health benefits, a pension rather than a disappearing 401K, and a far better social safety net.

31. Ask them for their bosses number
and tell them you are going to offer to do their job for 10% less pay. Watch the expression on their faces.

This is a tongue in cheek comment but you know that GOP rulers like Gingrich would masturbate if they could actually get the working class to do this to each other.

18. And in some senses, it's besides the point.
Finding employment wouldn't solve the problem of concentration of wealth and power in the hands of a few, and the corruption of the political system that follows.

29. In the harsh economic times of today, telling someone to get a job...
is like telling a drowning man to find a boat.
