I'd like to express my appreciation to the young people of America
I'm truly in awe of you guys. We keep hearing people complain about how soft you are, and how pampered you've been. But I'm amazed at the bravery of those who stand tough in the Occupy movement. The kids who were pepper sprayed at Davis didn't scatter and scream. They stood their ground. Those kids who were attacked at Berkeley stood their ground, with their chins out.

It would be so easy to respond to abuse by lashing out, but you guys look like the protesters in the movie "Gandhi". Not only do you not go home, but the worse things get, the more of you are drawn to the protest.

And that silent walk of shame at Davis. Freaking beautiful.

I worry about your future, but not because of you. I worry that you won't inherit the same America that I did. But whatever lies ahead, I have faith in you that I never had before.

Thank you!

4. What you said. I can't participate in protests like I did in the 60's.
I can't agree more with what yo'e said. Thank you from my deepest heart for the youth of the nation participating!

3. I agree wholeheartedly
As a child of the 60s, I do believe our touch is being handed to the next generation. I am the mother of Gen X and Gen Y children. I hope I raised them well. It seems so.

You go, young people!!!!!! Keep the faith, as we used to say.

My grandson will live in a better world.

For a long time, I was afraid that would not be so.

You are AWESOME, and I salute you.

11. right on!
love Davis Activists, but this is not just a youth movement, this is a movement of the 99%. In Portland the average age of people arrested was 50.

53 years old.

Served in the US Navy for 6 years.

I sympathise with OWS but I don't sleep in the cold or march in the streets.

OWS has my full political support. They are heros defending our country.

We have some very bright young folks in this country. Much brighter than my generation that allowed this to happen.

I am so optimistic when I discover that there is at least one generation smarter than Sean Hannity.

I take a bow to you young heros

14. I saw that story
And I'm over 50. I'm proud of everyone there, but I know the police are especially tough on the young protesters.

all of the above, but in addition:

They are self-organizing, self-governing, taking care of all their own needs -- sanitation, food, media, whatever. IMO they are paving the way for new forms of social structures to replace some of the old ones that aren't working.

Sometimes I worry about "what comes next?" because I don't want to see the Movement end. But the next thing I know, they've invented something new, or taken some bold new step that ensures their longevity. They are incredibly creative, versatile, flexible, resilient, and yes, courageous.

I LOVE THEM TOO.

wanted to add the music, our Movement anthems:

Also fiercely proud of the older occupiers...but you are right: the footage of those kids at the college was stirring.

People have always snarked about the younger generations, but we have a priceless, courageous group of principled young people coming up.

I love them all.
