Associated Press= NEW YORK (AP) — Mayor Michael Bloomberg says an al-Qaida sympathizer who plotted to bomb police and post offices in New York City has been arrested.

Bloomberg announced Sunday the arrest of 27-year-old Jose Pimentel on numerous charges.

Pimentel was arrested Saturday. He is accused of having an explosive substance that he planned to use against others and property to terrorize the public.

5. I spoke with a Republican 911 operator about those alerts

I was thinking, given his continued admiration for GWB, that he would defend the color-coded terror alerts.

He said that never accomplished a thing beyond increasing the "wacko" calls.

I asked him for examples, and he said, "Once we got a call from someone who reported seeing four Arabic-looking men putting gas in their van."
