In 1992 Bill Clinton was booed at a Nascar race.
Has a Democrat ever received a positive response when showing up to these events?

Here is the link, BTW about Baby Bush's visit to a Nascar race in 2004 and the audience was fawning all over him:

The president got a much warmer reception than Bill Clinton did when he visited a NASCAR race as a candidate in September 1992, when the question of his lack of Vietnam-era military service was dogging Clinton.

At the Southern 500 race in Darlington, S.C., Clinton was booed and heckled by fans, many shouting "draft dodger!" at him.

1. they can't even get their insults right. Clinton didn't dodge the draft.
He though about it, but in the end, submitted to the draft and got a low draft number.

I'm just guessing, but maybe NASCAR fans tend to be a little more conservative and Republican than smart Americans are?

9. Clinton did his best to dodge it and only "submitted" to it when he knew he would not be drafted.
I don't blame him, I did exactly the same thing in late 69 as did he. Snopes has a good history on it (they were knocking down another rumor that he was a felon) http://www.snopes.com/politics/clintons/felon.asp

14. Unlike "The Dick" Cheney who rah-rahed the Vietnam War from college after 5 deferments.
And then rah-rahed the Iraq War without ever having to leave his soft cushy Lazyboy.

10. They go there to campaign and get votes.
Same reason politicians kiss babies. Do you really think they like to do that?

My arms don't reach the ground, I breathe with my mouth closed just the way I chew my food, and I've never voted for a rethug in a statewide or national election in my fucking life.

This type of post belies a narrow-mindedness that makes you no better than any of us NASCAR fans.
.
Way to go.

5. When I saw that Michelle Obama and Jill Biden had been booed...
I saw a facebook post saying that Michelle Obama and Jill Biden had been booed and I wondered if they were at some sort of dumb-ass convention...

A quick google and I found out they were at a NASCAR event.

Did I call that shit, or what?

6. It really reflects more upon the fans than anything about Mrs. Obama and Mrs. Biden

7. Well yeah...
A NASCAR race and a dumb-ass convention being essentially the same thing.

Not sure what Michelle Obama and Jill Biden were doing there, but I'd bet dollars to pesos they weren't there for the entertainment or the intellectual edification.

15. I totally agree.
Much like fans at the Coliseum, where the fans rooted for the lions.

13. And Rush said on his show that Michelle Obama was being "uppity"
for daring to suggest that people eat healthy food and then daring to go to NASCAR where they would resent her stance on food choices.

When I saw the headline on HuffPo about his calling her "uppity," I thought they must be "translating" his words--but no, they were merely transcribing, though his actual word was "uppity-ism" rather than "uppity" specifically.

8. It is a sport for people that want a little crashing, smell the tires,
maybe someone will get hurt or killed, drink some beer and know where it will end

11. but that's still a lot different than booing first lady who isn't even there for partisan politics
but just about support for military families ?

i wouldn't like it if people booed Laura Bush if she appeared somewhere for something similar .

17. Gee I don't recall any knuckle dragger calling
5 deferment Cheney a "Draft Dodger". But I really doubt many of the chicken hawk red necks saw any action either.
