George Clooney OK after contracting malaria
Plenty of money to wage wars, but funding medication for poor and struggling countries, not so much.

"George Clooney's philanthropy has hit too close to home. The actor contracted malaria while in Sudan recently, his rep confirms to E! News.

<snip>

And Clooney himself says it's not a death sentence, revealing he simply took meds for the disease, which includes flu-like symptoms such as shaking, the chills and fever and is carried by infected mosquitos.

"This illustrates how with proper medication, the most lethal condition in Africa can be reduced to a bad ten days instead of a death," Clooney said...."

3. I remember Carter was there. But it's been so long I forget the details.

4. Lucky mosquito!
Glad he is doing OK. He really shines a light on an area most ignore or don't understand.

5. I've been told that one of the symptoms of malaria
is an uncontrollable shiver. One of the ways to help the victim is to strip down and lay next to the patient to let them absorb your body heat. Any takers here?

8. He's lucky he had an easily treated variety
because some of them are less treatable.

In any case, there are mosquito net projects going all over the net, if anybody has a few bucks that aren't working elsewhere. I try to donate every year.
