Ron Paul’s constitutional and civil libertarian opposition to the bill was openly mocked by the hosts. Marginalizing Ron Paul wasn’t enough, however, so the hosts then proceeded to making things up like Fox employees often do.
At 8:25 in the video, Dana Perino, one of the hosts of The Five who also happens to be the former Press Secretary for President George W. Bush, lies about the vote tally for the renewal of the PATRIOT Act back in May. She claims that the reauthorization bill passed 99-0 and a psychotic looking Andrea Tantaros agrees, “Yep, that’s absolutely right.”
In reality, the PATRIOT Act was reauthorized on May 27th by President Obama, after the Senate passed it with a vote of 72-23 at the last minute–quite literally–after Republican Senator Rand Paul filibustered it. A Fox News article actually states that as well,
