A suggested Facebook status for anyone who, like me has right-wing FB friends |
|
"I think we can all agree that, whatever differences one might have with President Obama, there is no way the country should be turned over to that dishonest, immoral, con man Newt Gingrich."
I just posted that as my status. I post things like that every now and then just to stir up trouble. I expect indignant responses t begin in 3... 2... 1...

1. I appreciate the suggestion, but I try to keep from stirring them up as it is. |
|
Not always too successfully either.

4. If I posted that I would get a lot of thumbs up. |
|
The few right wing relatives I did have on FB have already blocked me anyway.

5. No less than 5 of my friends "Like" Mitt Romney. |

It's amazing, TRULY amazing, that they're down with the repeated practice of corporate raiding, serial firing and profit pocketing . . . as long as it's not THEM it's happening to.

6. I try to avoid shitstirring in my FB status. I may post links to various |
|
political news stories, but rarely with comment. I just like folks to be educated as to what is going on. They are free to ignore the links. And I NEVER post politics on anybody else's wall. I do sometimes respond, but I hold my tongue. My FB friends are ALL either family or actual personal friends, with a tiny smattering of really good clients.

7. Same here, and I can't even imagine... |
|
why someone would purposely try to piss off/annoy one's friends.
I don't get into a lot of political crap on Facebook. I enjoy connecting with family and friends and don't need the aggravation of hurt feelings or stupid arguments.

To my FB friends and family...a proposal:
2012 election campaign is gearing up and it will probably get quite nasty at times. I value my family and friends so I propose the following. I probably will not change your mind and I know you won't change mine so lets do this. I promise not to blow up your wall with snarky comments if you don't blow up my wall. If I post something you disagree with, share it on your wall and snark it up all you want and I will do the same.
I do not want to lose friends because of politics but I value the fact that we live in a country where we are free to post and think and feel what we believe.
