You gotta dance with the one that 'brung ya' (A parable) |
|
and Obama's been ignoring Naomi Klein while chatting up Ann Coulter at the Sadie Hawkins. Trying to impress Ann, he publicly mocks and berates his date. Naomi leaves out of disgust, but Obama isn't worried since he's got Ann. He NEEDS Ann. And he believes that Naomi will come back to him no matter what - she's got no place else to go. Only problem with the plan is, Ann's already got someone. Even if she didn't, she wouldn't give him the time of day anyway - he's not her type. Still, Obama believes that he has what she wants and needs. Even if Obama does have what she's looking for, she doesn't want it from HIM. She's only using him for free drinks. She's making fun of him while he's buying. Where does that leave our hero when the 'ugly lights' come on? What's he gonna do when when Naomi doesn't take his calls? What if Naomi is so disenchanted that she decides to remain single while she figures things out? She has to put her own needs and well being over that of some guy that clearly doesn't give a shit about her in the first place and was only taking advantage of her.
Now our protagonist is on the shoe sole express.... He's quick to blame his date for leaving him, but in reality he has no one but himself to blame for his predicament.

Sad thing is that as much as you like to think Naomi brought him, the people who brought him as the really fickle Independent voters, the ones that consider themselves to be better than Naomi and Ann. There were also the Minority voters, the Latinas, but we all know if he courted them, certain people would day he is selling out "white Middle class" girls, especially when some of the Union types hate hispanics only slightly less than the KKK, because uncle Lou Dobbs told them to.

7. I think you mean Naomi Wolf. Naomi Klein is a true progressive, Naomi Wolf writes self serving lies |
|
People have been confusing the two of them since that silly guardian article came out.

9. No, I meant Klein. Klein is the 'Left'. Coulter is the 'Right'. |
|
I'll admit when the brouhaha over Wolf's article first appeared, my kneejerk reaction was "I'll tker her word over yours any day" - until I realized it was the wrong Naomi. Luckily I had not posted before my moment of clarity.

but I guess some folks don't quite get that.
You can think that your parable meant something profound... but Obama ain't telephoned Naomi Klein/Wolf nor bought Ann Coulter's a drink.... so the whole parable of yours is based on a fantasy that is far from the truth.....
The more realistic parable I can come up with is Obama gets married after he gets a brand new job. Then his new wife finds out that instead of spending all of his money on her, he's gonna have to pay some bills too, and there may not be that much left for her "wants". She gets pissed and threatened divorce. He tries to explain the reality of life to her, that he will have to work at this job for a while, then get a better job, and perhaps sooner than later, she will get most of those things that she wants. She tells him to go to hell, and that she's ready to move out and go live in her car instead of putting up with him and his "bills". He suggests that maybe if she gets a job too, she won't have to wait as long. She tells him that work was marrying him....and that's about as much work as she feels she deserves to have to do.
Moral of the story: Never marry a man for his Job and think you deserve anything more than what you will earn in the long haul of being his wife in good times and in bad.

10. You're right - it's a referendum on his policies and he's on the wrong side of things. |
