Alex Kirst, a drummer with Iggy Pop's Trolls band, has died following a hit-and-run accident in Cathedral City, Calif.

Police said the 47-year-old drummer was hit Jan. 13 by a Chevrolet Tahoe or GMC Yukon while he was out walking.

"We have no evidence of any braking," Sgt. Paul Herrera told Palm Springs newspaper The Desert Sun. "The driver made no attempt to stop and fled the scene."

Kirst's brother, Whitey, a guitarist for Iggy Pop, told the website that he was "devastated" by the news. "From what I understand, he just went to the store to get a pack of cigarettes," he said of the father of two.

2. Wow...the Nymphs....
Haven't thought about or even heard that band mentioned in years. I remember when they were the next big thing and Inger Lorre was Courtney Love before Courtney Love was.

Shame.
