Randi Rhodes just said re: Keith Olbermann, that there
were a string of executive resignations at NBC and MSNBC the week prior to KO having his show ended and yet there was nothing reported in the MSM about it. She speculates they were fired. No...Comcast has nothing to do with it. :sarcasm:

1. Moral to the story: Go with what it looks like; the rest is
somebody's spin.

3. She's talking about it now.
Evidently emails were sent out by the departing execs saying goodby to their staff and others when they left and she got it through the grapevine. However, it's not a big secret. It just hasn't been reported in the MSM.

7. I posted about evidence of Comcast's interference on Saturday,
linking to a NY Times blog from the 20th that made it clear that Comcast had been interfering in executive decisions at NBC for weeks:

http://www.democraticunderground.org/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x249972

The particular story I cited was about their interference in the entertainment division, but I haven't run across any credible reason to believe they wouldn't interfere in the news division as well. And the Comcast statement denying any involvement in Olbermann's departure denied ALL involvement in operational decisions at NBC, which is obviously not true.

9. Franken calls for antitrust investigation of Comcast-NBC merger
Posted by Jeremy Herb
Last update: November 24, 2010 - 3:26 PM

Sen. Al Franken is calling for the Justice Department to investigate whether Comcast broke antitrust laws by announcing who would manage NBC Universal before the Comcast-NBC merger was approved by federal officials.

Franken wrote a letter to the Justice Department Monday urging an antitrust inquiry into alleged “gun jumping,” after Comcast named 43 individuals to NBC positions last Wednesday that would take effect once the merger was finalized.

“The Department of Justice and Federal Communications Commission have yet to complete their review of the proposed Comcast and NBC Universal merger,” Franken wrote. “And yet, by publicly announcing their intended managers of each component of NBC Universal, Comcast has effectively told employees at NBC Universal who their 'real bosses' are.”

Franken, who once worked for NBC on Saturday Night Live and as a producer, has been one of the biggest critics on Capitol Hill of the proposed Comcast-NBC merger. At a hearing earlier this year, he told executives that he didn't trust their promises.

15. Then we find out that over 2/3rds of Congress receives campaign funds from Comcast.
That's why it went through. Such a shame! The media is becoming MORE, not LESS corporate!!! :puke:

It's extremely common for executives to quit in the wake of a merger.

Rhandi posts all her sources on her website sometimes after her show. Since I didn't have a link when I first posted, I will now present it to you.
