Shocker: Evan Bayh joins private equity group in NYC

Former Indiana U.S. Senator Evan Bayh is headed to Apollo Global Management, the New York private equity firm.

The Indiana Democrat, who retired following the 2010 mid-term election, will join the firm as as a senior adviser with responsibility for public policy, according to a short statement from the firm.

The move likely ends speculation of Mr. Bayh running for governor. Indiana Republican Governor Mitch Daniels is expected to run for president in the coming months.

1. Too bad he won't run for Indiana Governor
He could have won. Bayh was pretty-much left-of-center during the 12 years he was in the Senate. He disappointed us sometimes, but considering he was from Indiana, he was a gift for us. Wish he hadn't retired.
