If Chris M. & others had hammered away at the rightwingers years ago..
the way that he pummeled Sal, the teapartier tonight, we wouldn't be having to contend with them now. They would have been laughed off the stage!

Imagine how well-educated the public would be now! Think of how the easily the electorate would be able to detect & put down the BS.

As several have said tonight, the way Tweety went after Michelle Bachmann & Tea Party Leader Sal (whatever his name) was a thing of beauty.

LET'S SEE MORE OF IT!!!!

1. Tweety didn't grow a pair until Stephanie Miller made him cry.

The day after she called Tweety a "right-wing tool" he seemed to have changed over night.

Seriously, it was an instant transformation within the space of 24 hours.

See:

Stephanie Miller calls Chris Matthews a "Right Wing tool."

2. He made his money. My guess is that he's just getting very relevant
because he knows the progressive viewership will leave MSNBC if he doesn't perform.

I don't know how long it will last.

4. I don't think you can hold Matthews responsible for the Tea Party - And "the public"
doesn't watch MSNBC -- we the Progressives do.

5. Actually, I wasn't clear enough in the OP to say that if our entire news media
had taken people like that to task, we probably wouldn't even have FOX news, because people would have seen through their lies. And if the commentators called them out on their lies, the viewing public would have seen them as what they are: lies.

No, I don't hold Matthews responsible for the Tea Party. But our once great national news media let the lies get out of hand for about 30 years and look what we've got now...

6. The media aren't news reporting services any more, sadly. It WOULD have been nice
along the way to see some guts along the way. Hell, ":we" barely have ANYBODY representing us now other than MSNBC and Progressive radio, and they're just preaching to the choir. :(
