A bit of good news. $1.411 billion homeless assistance projects
http://www.hud.gov/offices/cpd/homeless/budget/2010/index.cfm

This report displays the homeless assistance projects being awarded by HUD under the 2010 Continuum of Care (CoC) competitive grants process. Approximately $1.411 billion ($1,411,406,642) is being awarded for renewal competitive programs. The competitive programs provide funding for transitional and permanent housing and supportive services. These reports are organized by state and then by continuum, or community. Within each listed continuum are the organizations that will be assisted with HUD's awards for competitive programs.

10. I'm sore and foggy headed.
Typing slower than normal, and left handed, but I am ok. :)

Thanks!

14. Glad you're OK.
And your typing looks really good for being left handed. I can barely tell the difference. ;)

Seriously  am glad you are here & doing OK.

17. Spellcheck is my new left handed friend.
;)

I'm actually ambidextrous (not only that, I can use both hands!). I deal cards left handed, i can hit a baseball from either side and shoot a hockey puck left or right handed, so this hasn't been as bad as I expected. The smaller laptop keyboard helps, too.

26. cool
I'm ambidextrous too,and so is one of my roommates. One day I saw her use both hands writing. I pointed at her yelling YOuuuu..ambidextrous!! Yaaay! Dunno why but I feel a bit of joy when others are ambidextrous too. I type with two index fingers when my elbow was broke, the spell check was my best buddy, and the 'sticky keys' keyboard option..Hope u feeling better soon.

27. I don't use sticky keys because it messes with my gaming.
But I never used spell check so much! :P

Thanks for the kind wishes.

6. Yay!!!! $1.411 billion more corruption and fraud at HUD!!!!
I know it's not all that bad, but some of the recent revelations about how the money is being lost hand-over-fist at the state and local level are tragic.

8. I'd like to see the reports you speak of. I am the administration part of the HUD grant
our county gets. It would be interesting to see where the fraud is you speak of.

13. Those "pages" are not all about HUD
Edited on Fri Jan-28-11 01:05 PM by county worker
You have posted something that leads people to think that the $1.4 billion I was talking about is littered with fraud. That is a distortion in the worse way! You don't have a clue about what you are talking about.

We work hard to help the homeless and you discredit our work. You should be ashamed!

15. Yes, and there are many of us who personally know that HUD money
has helped both ourselves and our family members. I have sat on the board of directors of a few housing related projects and most are very closely monitored. Those stories of fraud are telling us that they get caught when they try to take housing money. We had quarterly reports on what was happening with the money and we had other reports on the progress. These programs do not just get money handed to them without having to account for it.

16. Yes, but like any other Fed program, there is fraud. Often it is systemic.
Neither party seems to be too terribly interested in ferreting it out and it's invariably the "welfare queens" at the bottom of the pile that are affected by reform - which just means more money for those higher up the food chain.

I don't like fraud (in the hundreds of billions) attached to our spending in Afghanistan and Iraq either.

Any time this kind of cash is on the table, there will be those looking to take advantage. Instead of shooting the messenger, why not look for ways to identify and punish the fraud?

21. Evil exists in the world right along side good.
In this case the evil is vastly out weighed by the good. Yet there are those content to point out the warts and never understand the work and effort that people put in to accomplish the good.

Then those wart pointer outters say "don't shoot the messenger! Get rid of your warts!"

How easy to sit back and criticize! That accomplishes shit!

23. I was hoping only to point out the various schemes that you, as someone who administers HUD money...
might use to educate yourself in identifying and eliminating fraud.

Too much to hope for, eh? Lalalalalalalalalala.
