What I read about US support for Mubarak... |
|
All these military aid for the past 30 years, even we know there are human rights abuses in the country... The US undying support for that madman, makes me want to support Saddam Hussein.
The Egyptian people have spoken. MUBARAK MUST GO!!!

1. I hate him, too, but it's never as cut and dried as that. Mubarak |
|
has been a stabilizing presence in the region and has kept peace with Israel, and you know how important Israel is to the US, whether you agree with their stance or not.
His wife was championing womens' rights and ending female circumcision, and he supported her in that.
But bottom line - he does have to go. I don't think he has a chance in hell of hanging on.
And you must know that the US supports many countries that in a perfect world, we shouldn't even have to acknowledge. We seem to look the other way when there's something we want/need from them.

2. Knew about them?! Our government SOLICITED human rights abuses |
|
in their rendition to torture programs.
Clinton rendered people to Egypt as well as Bush. And Obama's CIA head said he believes rendition is "a good tool".
Our government knew about the abuses because they were active in them.
