5. Central Texas has only had a glancing blow and has still had a fair amount of damage
so far, lots of downed trees, roofs and electric lines primarily from the high winds. Temps in the single digits with windchill hovering around zero is certainly foreign to these parts. We'll see how the rest of the week goes. Can't even imagine what it's like to be fully in its path.
Wishing everyone well. Hope you'll check in and give us updates when/if possible.

23. I wonder if you guys will get the temperature dive
It's 9 degrees here in the north central Rio Grande Valley and will likely be below zero tonight and tomorrow night. Today didn't get out of the teens and tomorrow won't, either. If the power doesn't go out, it will be OK, but the puter is popping once in a while so it's not looking good.

Thank goodness for Acorn polarfleece socks. It's the only way I'm still vertical, it's cold in here.

26. Stay warm Warpy! I hope you have a backup plan if you lose power.

I have a down blanket that always keeps me warm and allows me to turn off the heater before I go to sleep. But I'm not taking any chances with this storm and haven't turned off the heat yet.

Our weather is not quite as severe as what you're experiencing, but very unusual. So many aren't prepared.

Here's the weather forecast for the area around Austin. Windchill is supposed to be in the low single digits:

9. Look at those tendrils reaching out into Lake Superior
This is some weird-ass storm.

I'm here in southern Ontario on a beautiful night with stars in the sky. But the storm will hit us at 6:00am tomorrow.

I'm staying home and getting the snowblower ready.

11. That IS Weird...
Is that "Lake Effect" snow, or something different?

They were talking 25 foot waves in Lake Michigan.

:hi:

13. That's not "lake-effect" snow
It usually works from West to East, not South to North. And especially not in Northern Ontario.

25. The one from the Morelos II
gave a more ahem southern view... and I was right, the tendrils go beyond Mexico City.

They are called Nortes in Mexico, cold wind (well it is relative) flow from the north,
