Photos: The Attack On CNN’s Anderson Cooper On The Streets Of Cairo
Source: MEDIAITE

CNN has released a series of photographs taken by photojournalist Kim Badawi of Getty who was nearby when pro-government demonstrators attacked Anderson Cooper and his crew. The shots capture the tense moments as men Cooper has described on air as “thugs” descended upon him and ultimately started throwing punches. Cooper’s photographer is seen in several of the photos; Cooper says the crew specifically targeted the photog as well, attempting to steal his camera. Ultimately, Cooper and crew (including a female CNN producer who was also punched and appears in the pictures) escaped–largely unhurt–and resumed reporting from a safe location.

2. Comments on the photos are sickening.
Lots of freepers minimizing the risk or wishing him ill, but the worst of the comments was from a woman who criticized him from reporting from the streets and putting himself in harm's way - "Probably shouldn't do that."

Dear gods! Is that what America has come to? We expect our media to pop oxycontin and bellow into a mike, never actually going to a protest, war zone, etc.? Doing the job of a real reporter is BAD?

4. call Kim Jong Il a punk, then go visit NK, let us know how well that works out.
That is, if we ever hear from you again. According to that article, Cooper is lucky those "thugs" didn't filet him.

Somehow Anderson Cooper always tries to make himself the news.

Emmanuel Cleaver suffered much more abuse during the summer of town hall disgrace. I didn't see the media make that big a stink about it.

9. They hit him in the head repeatedly -- they're targeting journalists
and have beaten them and smashed their equipment. That's why.

11. Anyone else NOT feel sorry for these journalists??
I'm not condoning violence, but it's ridiculous for them to feel the need to get right in the action. They could have safely reported this from a thousand other places nearby but they go down and try to be a part of the action for ratings. This is "Geraldo" journalism at it's best.

I haven't heard of any fox people getting harassed or jumped by the crowds.

Some of the best images in the world of events such as these came from photojournalists deep within...
