AP: Woman used frying pan on man

Published Wednesday February 2, 2011

LINCOLN (AP) — Lincoln police say a 20-year-old woman used a frying pan to defend herself against being groped by a 23-year-old man.

Officer Katie Flood said the incident occurred early Monday morning after a party at an apartment.

The woman told police she awoke to find the man touching her inappropriately. She said he ignored her protests, so she kicked him and hit him four times with a frying pan.

Flood said the man suffered facial fractures and was taken to a hospital.

She said citations are pending until the man is discharged.

4. Upside the head with a frying pan!
A friend years ago did this to her physically abusive, now ex, husband.
It's called an equalizer, especially when the guy has the advantage of brute strength over a woman.

13. My brother's ex took a frying pan to him too...
He never hit back, never hit period. He took it out of fear of losing his kids.

The man doesn't always have an advantage.

17. not saying that at all.
am saying when a man DOES attack, does physically abuse, then a woman sometimes has to use an equalizer...sometimes to save herself...sometimes to save herself and the kids...that is what my friend did. He had already beaten her several times and gotten away with it because she let him.

But, what happened to your brother's ex...am sure that is a totally different story... equalizers probably didn't have to figure into the equation..am sorry he had to live through that

5. Well, isn't somebody going to ask why she didn't have a gun?
He's one lucky man that she didn't.

16. We could be cousins!
LOL!

Yeah, think of how I felt when I chased a bear from my campsite... beating on a cast iron skillet with a giant sauce spoon! I figured the action is genetic somehow... or I had finally become my grandmother!

14. I hope it was a cast iron skillet.
It takes me two hands to pick up my Mom's old cast iron skillet when I make gravy for the family. The damage could be considerable. My greatest fear is dropping it on my ceramic tile floor. Imagine it hitting a person. Oh well, you reap what you sow.
