3. All pretty relaxed here, thanks |
Yasi was about 2,000 km north of me. I'm happy to report absolutely no crop damage in my part of the world. We may get a bit of residual wind from the weather system in the next few days but nothing bad is forecast.

5. The news I read said no reported deaths or injuries.... thank goodness. |
(((((hugs))))) to the locals. Having been through major hurricanes, I have been thinking about them and hoping for the best.

8. Have seen no reports so far |
that confirm last night's fears of 9m waves. The damage reports are coming in slowly. There was a lot of flooding but it seems nothing like Katrina.
A second storm surge would have hit with high tide, about 10am this morning AEST the ABC reports, with indications that it could be worse than the first.

7. I keep thinking about the Kuranda Sky Rail north of Cairns |
That sucker was pretty high off the ground as it is. I hope that it survived all right.

9. I'm reading in various places |
That Cairns didn't sustain a huge amount of damage. Along the cyclone coast, some places are still cut off so we won't really know the full extent for days.

11. It scared the crap out of me |
We booked the trip down from Kuranda when we were in Cairns. I didn't think that it would be that high. I rode 90% of it with my eyes closed. Fortunately, my husband is NOT afraid of heights, and he got great pictures.
