JACKSON, Miss. -- The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee has approved the nomination of Mississippi Supreme Court Justice James Graves for a federal judgeship.

Graves nomination to the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals was among several judicial nominations sent to the full Senate on Thursday, according to the committee's web site.

President Barack Obama resubmitted a batch of judicial nominations that didn't clear the Senate last year to the committee, including Graves.
