Jeffrey Skilling's son found dead
(CNN) -- The lawyer for Enron's jailed ex-CEO Jeffrey Skilling said Thursday he has reached out to the federal Bureau of Prisons to request that his client be allowed to attend his son's funeral.

Firefighters found 20-year-old John Taylor Skilling, the youngest of Jeffrey Skilling's three children, dead Tuesday night in his college dorm room, according to California police.

On Thursday, Jeffrey Skilling's lawyer, Daniel Petrocelli, added that he's talked with his client, who is "obviously heartbroken and distraught and devastated."

Petrocelli said, too, that the family is also awaiting the toxicology study and knows of no signs of foul play in the young man's death. .............(more)

1. Jeffrey Skilling is every bit as dangerous as the worst Al Qaeda terrorist
so his request should be denied.

4. Do they let poor folks out?
If they always let ppor inmates out, then OK.

Otherwise, this is America and we don't have two tiers of justice

6. They can. It's completely up to the discretion of the BOP.
I'm not sure of the federal system has mandatory charges, but I suspect most state/county prisons and jails do.

7. In MA they do. I was at a wake for a friend who had a son
that was in prison and he was allowed to attend, with a guard of course.

I'm sure it depends on the crime though.

5. I wonder if he has told himself that
if he had not been so greedy and walked away from Enron and Ken Lay, his life would be different and, possibly, his son would be alive today. All the money in the world isn't worth it.
