1. What are the lessons that you suggest be followed?
It sounds to me the author thinks the North should have conceded more to the South to avoid the war. It that the lesson that you are drawing from this? The Republicans were the anti-slavery party at the time. What should they have done differently in your opinion since you said they "fucked up".
