DUers are you watching BBC or Al Jazeera
Edited on Fri Feb-04-11 05:00 AM by malaise
BBC is showing thousands in Tahrir Square - while AJE is reading messages from people in the square and showing taped video from the past week of the thugs mowing down protesters.

AJE is back is now back in the square.

presumably in an effort to protect them.

2. Have you noticed
that on live footage they are using the same camera ? I think a fair amount of the broadcast companies gear has been trashed over the past few days.

3. Yep desperate men do really stupid things
Beating up journalists and destroying equipment was one of the worst last gasps I have ever witnessed.

The Egyptian protesters are fearless. I have so much respect for them.

(Spanish Public Radio (RNE) is making a point of broadcasting, intermittently, live from Tahrir Square this morning)

I wonder if its intermittent so's security can't pinpoint the location of the camera.

30. Well, their general news programmes also have to cover
other international and national stories... But they're making a big point about having anchors and reporters on the spot thyis day.

And I think we can have no doubt how the vast majority of Spanish public opinion feels (Spain having succesfully completed a transition to democracy from US-supported fascist dictatorship quite recently...).

25. One more delusional leader - David Cameron

<snip>
The regime in Egypt must take steps to show there is a "clear, credible, transparent path toward transition", the UK prime minister has warned.

Arriving at an EU summit in Brussels, David Cameron said so far steps taken had not "met the aspirations of the Egyptian people".

He called on European leaders to show they would help an orderly transition.

His comments came as more British nationals prepared to flee the political turmoil in Egypt.

Mr Cameron also warned: "If we see on the streets of Cairo today state sponsored violence or the hiring of thugs to beat up protesters then Egypt and its regime would lose any remaining credibility and support it has in the eyes of the watching world, including Britain."
-------------
They have already lost credibility Cameron

I put it on as soon as I got up (after I looked up Cairo local time).

I wish that the US footage of Tahrir Square would automatically imbed Cairo local time. .

32. What is amazing is watching AJE and then watching
M$Greedia's crap discussions on the subject. They are as naked as the neo-cons and neo-liberals after the Egyptian revolution.

Won't be long before the people of Israel remove Netanyahu.
His position has also changed - must be a 'lil threat about all that foreign aid.
http://www.jta.org/news/article/2011/02/03/2742831/netanyahu-israel-must-prepare-for-any-egypt-outcome
<snip>

Israel must be prepared for any outcome in Egypt, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the Knesset, "by reinforcing the might of the State of Israel."

While an Egypt that fully embraces democracy and democratic reform would be a welcome neighbor, Netanyahu said Wednesday, it is also possible that Egypt could come under the rule of parties that are answerable to Iran.

"They want Egypt to become another Gaza, run by radical forces that oppose everything that the democratic world stands for," the Israeli leader warned. "Our stand is clear. We support the forces that promote freedom, progress and peace. We oppose the forces that seek to enforce a dark despotism, terrorism and war."

Netanyahu said he believed that if forces of democracy and reform prevail in Egypt, then it could buttress a wider Arab-Israeli peace and maintain the 30-year peace Israel has had with Egypt.

33. Sure, using Livestation
It works well and frees an AJE stream for someone else, somewhere. Livestream has noted that its servers are nearly maxed out and usage has jumped 800%.

That means that having AJE on cable is not only an info and political issue, it's an infrastructure problem.

I'm beginning to dream in AJE speak and have become oddly concerned with curfews.
