Serious question: what happened to Obama's upcoming speech on gun-control laws?
Is it still coming, or has it been shelved?

The ban on magazines holding more than 10 rounds appears to be dead, but I would like to see Obama address what appear to be serious issues with NICS in failing to screen people like Jared Loughner and Seung-hui Cho.

2. My guess is he thinks the time is not right yet,
I hope it's soon, before the Arizona shootings totally drop off the screen.

4. As far as I know, it was purely media speculation.
I never saw a source on that claim other than the WH spokesman saying that it was reasonable to expect that they would at some point address gun violence. Which is a vastly different statement from how the media interpreted it, which was "Obama to make gun control speech."

Of course, a cynical person would point out that with gun control vastly unpopular with the public, slanting the "addressing of gun violence" as "big gun control push" would only benefit the Republicans and their allies.

Oh wait--I **AM** a cynical person. :eyes:
