Just how, exactly, do conservatives prove to themselves that God is on their side?
Edited on Sat Feb-05-11 03:03 PM by bondwooley
From an outside poll ( http://www.pledge-drive.com/lesterandcharliesurvey.html):

Bill O'Reilly made a fool of himself again this week.

When he found out that the tides are controlled by the Moon, rather than by god, he asked "Well, how did the Moon get there?"

More and more conservatives like O'Reilly insist that God is on their side in today's big political debates. But -- since God stubbornly refuses to make a comment on the record either way -- they can't prove it. No surprise -- we all know that conservatives don't seem to need proof on anything in order to be right. It's right because it feels right! Those pesky scientists, economists -- and just about anyone with an education -- are, to use O'Reilly's word, pinheads!

So - what proof is the religious right using to prove that god exists and is on their side?

- Because the the Bush tax cuts got extended?

- Because Michele Bachmann shows no sign of evolution?

What do you say?

1. Proof?
Edited on Sat Feb-05-11 02:13 PM by kirby
When is proof ever a requirement for justification of anything related to religion?

8. Well, it might take faith to prove to yourself that there's a god
But to convince yourself that he supports the way you vote might take something more concrete. I think they justify it because he speaks to them in the shower.

3. There is no proof. That's why they call it "faith".
Problem is these religious people put all their "faith" in a book written by men.

And Republicans put their "faith" in the dollar.

If there is a god all these so called "religious" people are going to be in for a shock when they meet their maker.

34. Remember the "conservative brain anomaly" that British researchers
discovered some time back?

Your mention of "delusional fools" made me think of that. Maybe you're onto something!

It is the argument that if you have something, you must have suppose to have it.

It is the concept that the world is already perfect and does not need to change.

The other argument as metaphor is the computer is playing itself to find permutations to correct its flawed state.

That consolidations are not the best state, nor the goal, and that is the error that is being resolved by change, and when consolidations occur that is the dead end of some path trying to reach improvement, but failing, so those consolidations are shifted to many other people to try other ways to create society that is better by better conditions for many people.

Unless the consolidations are being shared by a person to many people, to resolve that consolidation issue, those consolidations are not the dead ends, since they work towards the better more just compassionate condition the system bends towards. Justice with compassion.

You can see when people are sharing their consolidations, and those that work for more for themselves in many places.

And why the concepts of consolidations for more consolidations, when seen by people die off as an ideology, because the world is more fair then selfish, and most people are more good then bad.

Anyone that shares joy from a gift they have is sharing a consolidation. If your gift is logistics, administration, music, art, business, math, what ever it might be, by sharing that with people, you share your consolidation. It is what you have to add to the system and add joy, courage, thought, feeling, smiles, emotions, feelings, concepts, and all the other things many people share.

Why I say the obligation is to express what you think or feel.

10. Seems even more insane when it is sports
Did the losing team displease God somehow?

It's just their arrogance, which God would probably reprimand.

God would lecture them about helping the poor. And he'd think government should be involved where society is so advanced and has so many people. It can work both ways!

12. I believe in God.
I'm not particularly sold on the idea of God really caring a whole lot about what happens here. God's got a very large Universe to watch for entertainment or whatever. It would be like me worrying about an ant farm on the other side of the country.
