Borders Faces NYSE Delisting

The New York Stock Exchange Feb. 3 notified beleaguered retailer Borders that if it can’t get its stock’s average closing price above $1, it will be delisted.

The NYSE requires a minimum average closing price of $1 per share during a consecutive 30-day period for a stock to stay on the exchange. Shares of Borders closed at 39 cents Feb. 4.

The retailer in December reported a loss of $74.4 million for the third quarter of 2010.

I am a lover of electronic media. I read books on PDF all the time, but I also know that paper books are valuable because they allow someone to sit, read, and focus attention, as well as actually OWN information free and clear, without need for equipment.

Of course, the publishing houses did this to themselves, just as their kin in the music industry did. There is NO reason a paperback book could cost more than Ten dollars U.S.
